Social Networking for Schools

Facebook is giving me opportunities for new business always. Recently I saw one advertisement for Social Networking for Schools. By following the link I found an interesting web 2.0 online application called – Twiducate. It is a free resource for educators. The goal is to create a medium for teachers and students to continue their learning outside the classroom. The service attempts to fill a need for a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners in a social networking environment.

Teachers can create a network for them/school and their students and can do the following things using this Twiducate.

    Share inspiration, ideas, readings, thoughts
    Post discussions, deadlines, homework
    Embed pictures, links and video
    Keep parents informed
Collaborate on work by providing feedback
Connect with students outside the classroom in a secure manner!

I am exploring this website with one of my friend – she is a teacher, works in a private school. Let me post my observations soon.

Android Development Guide

In one of my recent discussions with mobile application developers community [online], I found that most of them are following the Development guide http://developer.android.com/guide/index.html.

This online guide is really useful for the beginners and intermediate level programmers – because it gives an excellent introduction and examples on basics, framework, development concepts, best practices, and deployment trouble shooting management.

User Interface, Data Storage, Security, Bluetooth are well explained with appropriate examples. This site also contains a blog for latest updates, SDK Downloads, and Videos of popular Demos and Discussions. There are many articles and tutorials available for beginners and even for advanced programmers.

Healthcare with Smart Phones

Recently I did an analysis for Healthcare apps using mobile devices. There are very few available, and some of them are surprisingly free. The requirement for Healthcare apps in mobile devices is high due to now day’s lifestyle. Everyone – at least many of us - likes to have information about diet, food methods, healthy living, good recipes etc.

I found a simple and efficient application for Nokia S60 Smart Phones – The application name is “Healthy Life”. I am sure; this app is available for other type of devices too. This application comes as a midlet with web services enabled. Once installed, it takes your information – name, height, weight, desired password etc. It uses this information to provide you personalized information.

The application provides Nutrition Information, Healthy Life style tips, Calculators (Waist to Hip Ratio, Ideal Body Weight, Target Heart Rate calc etc). The Menu efficiency, Consistency of Products, Definition of Particles are very informative. You can find BMI Calc, Fat Calc, interesting Diets too. The question and answer section, Health news sections are helpful to get some useful updates.

Try this interesting application and share your views and comments – I downloaded it from getjar.com.
